Trio of Current Grind Session Stars to Take Flight at Jordan Brand Classic

Two former Grind Session players will also join the star-studded lineup of top high school hoopers.

AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, and Bella Hines are headed to our nation’s capital to play in the Jordan Brand Classic. The trio of current Grind Session players will join a star-studded lineup of top high school hoopers in the premier showcase on April 18 at the CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C.

Peterson will play for Team Air during the boy’s game and Dybantsa will headline Team Flight. The girl’s game will feature Hines on Team Flight. On the other side of the girl’s game, former Grind Session players Agot Makeer and Deniya Prawl will suit up for Team Air.

“Like every year, this electrifying event will boldly shape the future of basketball through Jordan Brand’s uncompromising commitment to excellence on and off the court,” said Grind Session co-founder and CEO Scott Waldrup. “These young hoopers will no doubt experience the Jumpman spirit while displaying their brilliance.”

  • AJ Dybantsa played his senior year at Utah Prep and remained the consensus top-rated prospect in the Class of 2025 throughout the 2024-2025 season. The frontrunner to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, the 6-foot-9 forward and McDonald’s All-American signed a significant NIL deal with BYU and is set to join the Cougars next season.
  • Darryn Peterson is a 6-foot-5 guard who played his senior year with Prolific Prep, where he led the team to its third consecutive Grind Session World Championship and fourth title in six years. Ranked No. 2 by two of the four major recruiting sites – ESPN and 247Sports – the Kansas commit and McDonald’s All-American was named the 2025 Naismith Boys High School Player of the Year and is a presumptive lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
  • Bella Hines is an Albuquerque Prep stand-out guard who is the 30th ranked women’s basketball player for the 2025 class (according to ESPN’s HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings). Earlier this year, in addition to reaching 3,000 career points in her high school career, the LSU commit signed a multi-year NIL deal with Jordan Brand. She is the only active high school player (boy or girl) to have an NIL Deal with Jordan.
  • Agot Makeer is a top-five recruit in the 2025 class who is committed to play her college ball at South Carolina. She previously played for Crestwood Prep in the Grind Session.
  • Deniya Prawl is one of the top-rated players in this year’s senior class and a 2025 McDonald’s All-American. The Tennessee commit previously played for the Grind Session’s Fort Erie International.

Dating back to 2002, the Jordan Brand Classic honors MJ’s legacy and annually features the best and most highly recruited high school seniors in the country. It has been an incubator for future stars like Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson, and several other future Hall of Famers.

The girls game was established in 2015 and has included superstars like DiJonai Carrington, Charli Collier, Napheesa Collier, Sophie Cunningham, Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally. Recent notable Jordan Brand Classic alumni include Jordan Brand NIL athletes Kiki Rice and Mikaylah Williams.

This year’s girl’s game will lead the way with a 4:00 PM ET tip-off, followed by the boy’s game at 6:00 PM ET. Both games will air on the NBA App and simulcast on the NBA’s YouTube Channel.
