Prolific Prep’s Niko Bundalo Commits to the University of Washington

The University of Washington Huskies have secured a major recruit in their inaugural Big Ten season with the signing of Niko Bundalo, a 6’10”, 215-pound power forward from Prolific Prep in Napa, California. Bundalo, originally from Uniontown, Ohio, chose the Huskies over a host of elite programs, including North Carolina, Illinois, Ohio State, Michigan State, Connecticut, and Alabama. His decision marks another significant win for first-year head coach Danny Sprinkle, who is quickly establishing Washington as a powerhouse in the new Big Ten landscape.

Coach Sprinkle continues to strengthen the Huskies’ roster with Grind Session talent. Last year, he landed Prolific Prep’s Zoom Diallo, and earlier this month, he signed JJ Mandaquit from Utah Prep. With Bundalo’s commitment, Sprinkle adds a dynamic lefty forward with tremendous potential. Bundalo is ranked No. 26 overall and No. 7 among power forwards in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

A Star in the Making

Bundalo’s game is defined by his versatility and intensity. Known for his hyper-competitive nature, he is at his best when he balances his fiery drive with composure. On the court, Bundalo brings a rare combination of size, deceptive strength, and athleticism. He excels at finishing around the rim and has a great right hand, he is solid in the paint, and can stretch defenses with his solid shooting ability. His play down low combined with his outside shooting talent makes him a matchup nightmare for opponents.

This season at Prolific Prep, Bundalo has shined alongside 5-star point guard Darryn Peterson, who recently committed to Kansas and coach Bill Self. Under the guidance of head coach Ryan Bernardi, Bundalo has been a key piece in Prolific Prep’s success on the Grind Session circuit. Bernardi’s system has allowed Bundalo to showcase his all-around game while preparing for the demands of the college level.

A Lifelong Dream

For Bundalo, basketball isn’t just a sport—it’s a lifelong passion. His father shared a story that perfectly captures Niko’s dedication: “In fourth grade, he wrote down on a paper for career day in big letters – when most people are saying they want to be a doctor or lawyer or scientist, he wrote NBA PLAYER. Basketball is who he is.”

Bundalo’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. In October, he briefly reopened his recruitment, but his decision to join the Huskies signals a belief in Coach Sprinkle’s vision and the opportunity to make an impact in the Big Ten.

Washington’s Bright Future

As the Huskies transition to the Big Ten following the collapse of the Pac-12, Bundalo’s commitment represents a cornerstone for their future. With a blend of returning talent and high-profile recruits, Coach Sprinkle is building a team capable of competing at the highest level.

For Grind Session fans, Bundalo’s story is another example of the elite-level preparation the circuit provides for college and beyond. From Uniontown to Prolific Prep and now the University of Washington, Niko Bundalo’s journey is just beginning.

Expect big things from this hyper-competitive, high upside forward as he takes the next step in his basketball career. The Huskies—and their new Big Ten opponents—should be on high alert.
