Prolific Prep Shines at Grind Session Event in Napa

The Grind Session made its way to Napa this past weekend, with games held at Napa Valley College from February 28 to March 2. The weekend was all about Prolific Prep, the top-ranked team in the Grind Session Power Conference, standing at an impressive 13-0 record.

Friday Night: Prolific Prep vs. Rosemary Anderson Friday night kicked off with Prolific Prep taking on Rosemary Anderson. Before tipoff, Prolific Prep took a moment to thank the host families who house their student-athletes throughout the year. Once the game started, Prolific Prep dominated, securing a 92-69 victory. Kansas commit Darryn Peterson delivered a standout performance, earning MVP honors with 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists. Peterson was nearly flawless from the field, shooting 10-for-12 and sinking five three-pointers. Despite the loss, Hunter Carter led Rosemary Anderson with 27 points.

Saturday Night: Senior Night Thriller Saturday night was an emotional one as Prolific Prep honored its graduating seniors before their matchup against DNA Academy of Los Angeles. Following the ceremony, the two teams engaged in a hard-fought battle that went down to the wire. Prolific Prep emerged victorious with an 84-76 win. DNA Academy put up a relentless fight, hustling on every play and battling for rebounds. Michigan-bound sharpshooter Winters Grady earned game MVP honors with 18 points. Joustin Reyes had a standout performance for DNA, scoring 25 points and hitting seven shots from beyond the arc.

Sunday Afternoon: McDonald’s All-American Recognition and a Nail-Biter Win Sunday was a special day for Prolific Prep as they celebrated their two McDonald’s All-American selections—Darryn Peterson and Niko Bundalo. The prestigious All-American game will take place on April 1 at the Barclays Center in New York.

Following the ceremony, Prolific Prep faced Accelerated Prep in a highly competitive Power Conference game. The contest remained close until the final seconds, with Prolific Prep securing a 90-86 victory. Niko Bundalo led the way with a double-double, posting 22 points and 11 rebounds to earn MVP honors. Peterson continued his stellar play, adding 38 points in the win. Xaviel Rodriguez led Accelerated Prep with 21 points, knocking down seven three-pointers.

Other Weekend Results In addition to Prolific Prep’s matchups, several other exciting games took place:

  • Friday: 5 Star Academy defeated Prolific Prep Green 83-68, and Skyline Academy edged DNA Academy 80-79.
  • Saturday: Prolific Prep Green bounced back with a 91-83 win over Phoenix Prep Grind. Rosemary Anderson defeated Trinity Prep 80-66, 5 Star Academy secured a close 81-78 victory over Phoenix Prep Grind, and Accelerated Prep narrowly beat Skyline Prep 71-69, with Xaviel Rodriguez leading the way with 22 points.
  • Sunday: Trinity Prep took down Phoenix Prep Grind 61-57, while DNA Academy edged Prolific Prep Green 62-58.

The Grind Session now heads to Utah for the final event of the regular season before the playoff rounds begin on March 14. With Prolific Prep continuing to dominate, all eyes will be on them as they look to cap off their stellar season with another championship run and a three-peat for Coach Ryan Bernardi who won the Grind Session tiltles in 2023 and 2024.
