Academy of Central Florida defeated Royal Crown of Canada 66-56 in the first game of the Grind Session Miami event at Miami Senior high school. Martay Barnes was MVP of the game with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Justin Roman and Shane Cherry added 18 and 16 points respectively. It was a close game until the end when Central Florida pulled away for the victory. Xavier Istomin-Monroe had 12 points for Royal crown with 7 boards. Up next for Central Florida is West Oaks at 6:45 on Sunday. Royal Crown takes on a tough Dream City Christian team Saturday afternoon at 1:30pm in the Miami senior high gym.
The girls game between DME academy and Bond Academy was a blowout win for DME winning 83-50. DME had three girls in double figures with Chikae Destines dropping in 17 points with 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Gogi Battle and Sther Ubaka eaxh added 12 points for DME. Aniya Lawrence had 15 points with 12 rebounds for a double double in the loss.
Niko Bundalo lead Prolific Prep to a tough hard fought victory over Balboa Friday night in the third game of the day in Miami 86-73. Bundalo had 30 points with 9 rebounds and 2 assists in the win. Coach Bernardis team improves to 5-0 on the season with the win and will face a tough West oaks team on Saturday afternoon. Kansa commit Darryn Peterson had 24 for the Crew and Michigan commit Winters Gardy added 15 points. Travis Musonda had 19 points for the Roughriders with 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
DME and Dream city Christian battled hard all night long in the final game of the opening of the Grind Session Miami event. DME hit the last second three point shot at the buzzer to win the game. Mikel Brown Jr dropped 50 points to lead both teams in scoring. Ikenna Alozie was the top scorer for coach Kyle Weavers team with21 points. Jalin Holland added 14 points for Dream City in the loss. DME takes on Balboa on Saturday and Dream City goes against a tough Royal Crown team from Canada.
