Grind Session Recap: Friday Night Highlights in Kentucky

Friday night in Paducah, Kentucky, the Grind Session showcased some thrilling basketball action at the Strawberry Hills Pharmacy Arena. Here’s a look at the exciting games that unfolded.

SFBA Trinity Prep vs. Victory Rock
In the opening game, SFBA Trinity Prep edged out Victory Rock with a close 83-78 victory. Luccius Fox led the charge for Trinity Prep, scoring 27 points and contributing crucial rebounds. His teammates also shone brightly, with Danny Malok registering a double double of 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Zak Abdalla added 18 points and 10 assists. The game was fiercely contested throughout, but Trinity Prep managed to pull away in the final two minutes. Victory Rock saw strong performances from Aiden Duran and Jaymen Townsend, both scoring 15 points, with Gedeon Fodoup contributing 11 points in the loss.

Ft. Erie Prep vs. Albuquerque Prep
In Revolution Conference action, Ft. Erie Prep dominated Albuquerque Prep with a decisive 78-55 win. Portia Reisen was the star for the Canadian squad, leading the team with 19 points and 4 assists, supported by three teammates in double figures. Danyelle London scored 17 points, while Nyadieng Yiech secured a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. For Albuquerque Prep, LSU commit Bella Hines put up a strong showing with a double double of her own, scoring 25 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while Tamaaiah “Tink” Gary contributed 21 points and 6 rebounds. Ft. Erie will look to continue their momentum against Elite Prep from Washington, while Albuquerque faces Hamilton Heights next.

Prolific Prep vs. DME Academy
In a highly anticipated matchup, Prolific Prep emerged victorious over DME Academy, 89-81. The game featured a showdown between top prospects: Darryn Peterson of Prolific Prep, the #2 player in the country, and five-star point guard Mikel Brown Jr., a recent Louisville commit. Peterson led all scorers with 39 points and nearly achieved a double double with 9 rebounds, while Brown Jr. scored 29 points for DME. The teams stayed close early on, but Prolific Prep pulled away in the second quarter. DME made a valiant effort, closing the gap to 85-81 in the final moments, but Prolific Prep sealed the win with crucial free throws. Winters Grady added 16 points hitting 4 three point shots, and Niko Bundalo contributed 12 points for the victors.

Dream City Christian vs. Ft. Erie
The night concluded with Dream City Christian from Glendale, Arizona, defeating Ft. Erie with a final score of 73-54. Coach Kyle Weaver’s team took command in the second quarter, building a lead they never relinquished. Star player Jalin Holland scored 21 points, supported by Ikenna Alozie and Brayden Boe, each contributing 14 points, while Brennan Peterson added 12 points. Dream City will face off against powerhouse Prolific Prep in a highly anticipated matchup on Saturday. For Ft. Erie, Tristan Beckford recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds as they look to bounce back.
