Grind Session Miami Event Day 2 Recap: Thrilling Action and Stellar Performances

The second day of the Grind Session Miami event at Miami Senior High School brought exciting matchups, standout performances, and intense competition. Here’s how the day unfolded:

Grind Prep Dominates in Girls’ Revolution Game

Grind Prep showcased its depth and talent with a commanding 75-33 victory over Bond Academy in Saturday morning’s Girls’ Revolution game. De’Andra Minor led the charge with 19 points, while Talia Vann contributed an impressive double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sania Richardson added 10 points to round out a balanced offensive effort.

Dream City Christian Bounces Back

After a heartbreaking last-second loss the night before, Coach Kyle Weaver’s Dream City Christian team rebounded with an 89-80 victory over Royal Crown. Ikenna Alozie led the way, stuffing the stat sheet with 24 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Dream City controlled the game from start to finish, holding off Royal Crown’s late surges. Royal Crown’s Kymani Walters kept his team in contention with 24 points and 5 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Dream City’s determined play.

DME Academy Shines in Women’s Action

DME Academy secured a 68-52 win over the Academy of Central Florida in another thrilling women’s matchup. Gigi Battle put on a scoring clinic, leading all players with 32 points and adding 7 rebounds. Sthjer Ubaka dominated the glass with 11 rebounds in DME’s victory. Central Florida’s Meredith Venner stood out in the loss, delivering a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Prolific Prep Wins Game of the Night

In the day’s marquee matchup, Prolific Prep outlasted West Oaks 81-71 in a battle dominated by strong interior play. West Oaks’ Marcis Ponder grabbed 14 rebounds, controlling the boards, but Prolific Prep’s trio of young big men—Joel Mokweza, Emmanuel Jamgbadi, and sophomore Obinna Ekezie Jr.—played relentless defense to limit West Oaks’ offensive opportunities. Prolific’s senior stars carried the scoring load, with Darryn Peterson recording a near triple-double with 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Nikolo Bundalo tallied a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds.
