Saturday Recap: Grind Session Las Vegas Event at Silverado High School
The Grind Session delivered another thrilling day of high school basketball action Saturday at Silverado High School in Las Vegas, with standout performances across multiple games. Here’s a recap of the day’s action:
Utah Prep Dominates Accelerated Prep, 100-63
Utah Prep showcased their dominance in the finale Saturday night, cruising past Accelerated Prep with a 100-63 victory. Even without their star point guard JJ Mandaquit, Utah never trailed in this game.
John Southwick led the charge with 22 points, while Anthony Felesi chipped in 16 points. Jayden Cecil added 14 points, and Jackson Rasmusen contributed solid scoring in the victory. Though AJ Dybantsa had a quiet scoring night with 8 points, the five-star player dominated the boards, grabbing 15 rebounds to lead both teams.
Idris Adubakar was the top performer for Accelerated Prep, scoring 14 points in the loss.
Next up for Utah Prep is a highly anticipated showdown against Prolific Prep in Kentucky next Friday, a battle between two of the nation’s top teams.
Dream City Christian Overpowers West Oaks, 98-73
Dream City Christian, coached by Kyle Weaver, maintained full control in their matchup against West Oaks, earning a decisive 98-73 win.
Ikenna Alozie led Dream City with 23 points, while Jalin Holland followed closely with 19 points. On the opposing side, Willie Burnett III was a standout for West Oaks, scoring 21 points. Paulo Bala added a double-double for West Oaks with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Dream City continues to solidify its place among the top teams in the Grind Session.
Revolution Conference Spotlight
Albuquerque Women Edge AZ Compass, 80-75
In a hard-fought Revolution Conference battle, Bella Hines and her Albuquerque squad defeated AZ Compass, 80-75.
Hines led with an impressive double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Lillian Bryant narrowly missed a double-double with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Ivonna Djikanovi was a standout for AZ Compass, scoring 23 points in the loss.
Bella Vista Women Outlast St. Jude’s Academy, 73-68
The Bella Vista women triumphed over St. Jude’s Academy in a tightly contested 73-68 victory.
Aiyanna Perkins shone for Bella Vista with 24 points. For St. Jude’s, Chante Murray scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, while Silvana Maldonado delivered a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Elevation Conference Thriller: Albuquerque Prep Edges Bella Vista, 97-95
The most thrilling game of the day came in the Elevation Conference, where Albuquerque Prep narrowly defeated Bella Vista, 97-95, in a game decided in the final minute.
Christian Gililand put on a show for Albuquerque, scoring 32 points and adding 5 rebounds. Brandon Mason Jr recorded a massive double-double with 18 points and 19 rebounds.
Bella Vista’s Jalen White led all scorers with 34 points in the loss, but his heroics weren’t enough to overcome Albuquerque’s balanced attack.
