Held at Manual High School, the event features both men’s and women’s teams showcasing elite talent, with performances that reminded everyone why this circuit is the premier stage for up-and-coming basketball stars. Utah Prep vs. Accelerated Prep: A Dominant Display
Utah Prep, led by top-ranked Class of 2025 star AJ Dybantsa, asserted their dominance with a commanding 99-61 victory over Accelerated Prep. Jaden Vance led Utah in scoring with an impressive 20 points, showcasing his skill set alongside Dybantsa and solidifying Utah’s spot as the team to beat this weekend. With their fast-paced style and relentless defense, Utah Prep controlled every aspect of the game, leaving Accelerated Prep struggling to keep pace.
Dream City Christian vs. Balboa School: Dream City Rolls On
Dream City Christian, led by Coach Kyle Weaver, followed Utah’s performance with a statement win of their own, trouncing Balboa School 101-57. Jalen Holland took charge for Dream City, putting up 24 points as he led his team to a dominant victory. Dream City’s defensive energy and offensive versatility allowed them to outclass Balboa on both ends of the floor, marking them as another powerhouse in this weekend’s event.
Iowa United vs. Rosemary Anderson: A Nail-Biter Victory for Iowa United
In one of the day’s most competitive matchups, Iowa United managed to edge out Rosemary Anderson in a closely contested 81-75 victory. Kaleel Sutton-White put up 20 points for Iowa United, but it was Hunter Carter of Rosemary Anderson who lit up the scoreboard with a remarkable 32-point performance. Despite Carter’s efforts, Rosemary Anderson fell short in the final minutes as Iowa United held on for the win.
Bella Vista vs. Albuquerque Prep: Record-Breaking Performance from Bella Hines
Bella Vista narrowly escaped Albuquerque Prep with a 78-74 victory, but it was Albuquerque’s Bella Hines who stole the show, scoring a record-breaking 53 points – the most ever by a female player in a single Grind Session game. Bella Vista’s Aiyanna Perkins contributed 24 points, sealing the win for her team, but Hines’ unforgettable performance left a lasting impact on the crowd and set a high bar for the event.
Phoenix Prep vs. Minnesota Prep: A Scoring Duel to Remember
In a high-scoring thriller, Phoenix Prep outlasted Minnesota Prep with a 91-87 win. Jalyn Patterson of Minnesota Prep delivered an incredible 44-point performance, leading all scorers for the day. Despite Patterson’s scoring outburst, Phoenix Prep’s balanced attack allowed them to hold off Minnesota Prep in a back-and-forth battle, securing a hard-fought victory.
Grind Prep Women vs. Elite Prep: Edwards and Curtis Lead Grind Prep
Grind Prep Women’s team closed out the day with a 95-72 victory over Elite Prep. Top-rated player Oliviyah Edwards, recently named one of the top high school female players in the country, chipped in 13 points, while her teammate Keiara Curtis led all scorers with 26 points. The dynamic duo’s chemistry was on full display as Grind Prep Women outpaced and outplayed Elite Prep, showing they are a team to watch throughout the tournament.
