Grind Session Washington, D.C. Event

The Grind Session made its way to Washington, D.C., for an intense weekend of high school basketball action at Wise High School. Teams from across the U.S. and Canada battled it out, with standout performances and thrilling finishes marking each day.

Friday, February 14

Winston-Salem (NC) 79, West Oaks (FL) 61
Winston-Salem Christian dominated West Oaks with a 79-61 victory. Adriel Nyorha put on a show with 25 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, earning Player of the Game honors. Nayte Spargo contributed 13 points and 9 rebounds, while Paulo Bala was a force in the paint with 14 points, 17 rebounds, and 6 blocks. Willie Burnett III also had a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Minnesota Prep (MN) 64, Accelerated Prep (CO) 55
Minnesota Prep secured a 64-55 win over Accelerated Prep, led by Player of the Game Jalyn Patterson, who tallied 19 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Charles Duncan added 16 points, and Idris Abubakar chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Alhassane Camara came close to a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

Saturday, February 15

Minnesota Prep (MN) 57, Balboa (FL) 56
Minnesota Prep edged out Balboa in a nail-biter, winning 57-56. Honest Olango led the team with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Jalyn Patterson continued his strong play with 12 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals. BwaBwa Josue added 15 points, while Apolo Caetano delivered a clutch performance with 17 points and 7 assists.

West Oaks (FL) 78, Royal Crown (ONT, CAN) 73
West Oaks bounced back with a hard-fought 78-73 victory over Royal Crown. Willie Burnett III had an explosive performance, dropping 45 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Justin Smith facilitated the offense with 7 assists, while Xavier Istomin-Monroe controlled the boards with 16 rebounds. Justus Haseley also had a solid showing with 24 points and 5 steals.

Sunday, February 16

Winston-Salem (NC) 85, Royal Crown (ONT, CAN) 64
Winston-Salem Christian closed out the event with an emphatic 85-64 win over Royal Crown. Nayte Spargo led the way with 19 points and 4 blocks, while Bradley Floyd filled the stat sheet with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Yann Aphely contributed 13 points and 9 rebounds, and Justus Haseley added 15 points and 5 assists.

The D.C. stop of The Grind Session showcased elite talent and competitive matchups, setting the stage for even more high-level action in the games ahead.
