Ikenna Alozie of Nigeria has been named the Most Valuable Player of the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Global Camp 2025, held during the NBA All-Star Weekend. The talented young Grind Session star from Dream City Christian High School in Glendale Arizona showcased his skills among 40 of the top high school players from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Oceania, and Europe. He solidified his reputation as one of the elite prospects in his class. Heri Bukinga the 6’11” center from the Grind Session’s DME Academy played alongside Ikenna in the event.
Ranked in the top 10 of his USA high school class, Alozie stood out in San Francisco at the Golden State Valkyries Performance Center, where the ninth annual BWB Global Camp took place from February 14-16. The event, featuring participants from 22 countries, was overseen by NBA Coaching Development Program members Juan Dixon, Yolanda Moore, Damon Jones, and Emeka Okafor. The campers engaged in three days of intense on-court training, 5-on-5 competitions, and life-skills development sessions.
Alozie emerged as the camp’s leading scorer, averaging 7.0 points per game. In the final game, he contributed 6 points, helping the Hornets secure a 33-25 victory over the Wizards. His standout performance throughout the camp earned him the prestigious MVP honor.
Alozie’s Hornets teammates included Ali Assran (Egypt), Heri Bukinga (Democratic Republic of Congo), Alexander Dickeson (Australia), Mading Kuany (Australia), Mathieu Grujicic (Germany), Sifeng Huan (China), Nikola Janichikj (North Macedonia), Ognjen Srzentic (Serbia), and Justin Roman (Puerto Rico).
Canadian Tutijek TJ Wal finished as the second-leading scorer, averaging 6.4 points per game. He scored 4 points in the final and posted a camp-best 15 points in the Wizards’ 35-29 semi-final victory.
The BWB Global Camp has become a launching pad for future NBA stars, with 116 former campers making it to the league, including 27 current NBA players. Alozie’s MVP performance at the 2025 edition further cements his place as a rising star to watch in the basketball world.
