Day 2 of the Grind Session event in Murray/Calloway, Kentucky, delivered intense competition and memorable moments. From buzzer-beater finishes to standout performances, the action kept fans at the edge of their seats. Here’s a look at the games:
Game 1: Skyline Prep (AZ) 81, Chi Prep (IL) 76
In a tightly contested opener, Skyline Prep pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure an 81-76 victory over Chi Prep. Adam Tyson led the charge in crunch time with key shots and a highlight-reel breakaway dunk. Tyson and Josh Powell each contributed 18 points, while Aiden Duran posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Christian Taylor also grabbed 10 boards in the win.
Chi Prep’s standout was Tristian Ford, who dropped 18 points on the same court where he’ll play as a Murray State Racer next season. Despite his effort, Chi Prep couldn’t close the gap late.
Game 2: Central Florida 88, Albuquerque Prep 85 (Revolution Conference)
The CFSB Center hosted a thrilling Revolution Conference clash as Central Florida edged Albuquerque Prep 88-85. Albuquerque’s Bella Hines shined early, scoring 16 points with 4 rebounds in the first half, giving her team a 10-point halftime lead.
However, the second half turned into a rollercoaster. Central Florida surged ahead by 12 points before Hines was injured late in the game. Rallying behind each other, Albuquerque fought back to tie it in the final seconds. Central Florida’s defense held strong, with Constanza Aravena leading the charge and earning MVP honors with 23 points.
Albuquerque’s Hines finished with 28 points despite her injury, while teammate Lilian Bryant added 19.
Game 3: DME (WI) 57, Central Florida 54 (Evolution Conference)
DME emerged victorious in a closely contested Evolution Conference battle, defeating Central Florida 57-54. Kruze McLure was the MVP, leading DME with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and an assist. Latravion Fenderson chipped in 12 points, and Elijah Milliner added 10 points with solid all-around contributions.
Central Florida’s Martay Barnes scored 13 points in the loss, supported by Shane Cherry with 12 points and Maodo Niang with 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Game 4: Fort Erie (CAN) 75, Accelerated Prep (CO) 54
Fort Erie from Canada dominated Accelerated Prep from Denver in Power Conference action. After a tightly contested first half, Fort Erie took over in the second, securing a commanding 75-54 victory.
Eli Jolin led Fort Erie with 18 points, while Tristan Beckford added 13. Both Adam Elaheebucus and Promise L’Lamndu contributed 12 points apiece. Accelerated Prep’s Kouroumed Mohamed led his team with 14 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.
Game 5: Dream City Christian (AZ) 80, Utah Prep 77
In a marquee Power Conference matchup, Dream City Christian edged Utah Prep 80-77. Ikenna Alozie was unstoppable, scoring 26 points and dishing out 6 assists, while Brennan Peterson and Jalin Holland added 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Utah Prep’s AJ Dybantsa delivered a stellar performance with 31 points and 10 rebounds, but Dream City’s defense locked down in the final moments to secure the win for Coach Kyle Weaver’s squad.
Game 6: Prolific Prep (CA) 90, Winston Salem Christian (NC) 71
In the day’s finale, Prolific Prep made a statement ahead of their Saturday showdown with Utah Prep, defeating Winston Salem Christian 90-71. Darryn Peterson, the #2 player in the nation, led Prolific Prep with 29 points, while Winters Grady narrowly missed a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Obinna Ekezie Jr. added 14 points in the win.
Winston Salem’s Alex Pissis and Bradley Floyd scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, but couldn’t keep up with Prolific Prep’s firepower.
